| About gnormalize |
gnormalize is a front-end to wavegain, an audio converter, encoder, ripper, meta data (tag) editor and audio cd player.
Supported formats: MP3, MP4 (or M4A or ACC), MPC (or MPP or MP+), OGG, APE and FLAC. gnormalize decodes the MP3, MP4, MPC (or MPP - MusePack), APE (Monkey's Audio), FLAC and Vorbis OGG files to wave, then normalizes the wave to a targeted volume level and re-encodes it. gnormalize can also rip audio cd; encode audio data; convert audio format between MP3, MP4, MPC, APE, FLAC and OGG; and change the encoding and ID3 tag properties of final normalized files.

Requirements
This application requires GTK+ version 2.6.x.
Other dependencies include:
gtk2-perl (version >= 1.040), wavegain, cdparanoia.
Encoders: lame, faac, oggenc, mppenc, mac and flac.
Decoders: oggdec, mppdec and faad.

- Now, gnormalize uses 'wavegain' to normalize wav files because 'wavegain' is based on more accurate gain_analysis.c code of ReplayGain to adjust and normalize the sound amplitude. (For more information, see http://www.replaygain.org/ and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Replaygain)
- On WaveGain-1.2.6/wavegain.c, I change the rename() c function by xrename(), because rename fail when used on different mounted file systems. The Author of wavegain is John Edwards.
- New Method for easy translations;
- Remove 'file chooser' Check Button because 'Gtk2::FileSelection' is deprecated;
- Minimum required gtk2 version >= 2.6.0;
- Don't need more to make Wave copy;
- Add mac (Monkey's Audio Console) to encode and decode APE format inside gnormalize*.tar.gz;
- Can use mplayer to play all supported files format (need compile the most recent mplayer to support MPC and APE, for example).;
- Some Bug Fixes.
